We are pleased to announce the recent publication of Wars Without End: Competitive Intervention, Escalation Control, and Protracted Conflict (Oxford University Press, 2025), authored by Postcor Lab Co-Director and Co-Founder, Dr. Noel Anderson.
Dr. Anderson’s latest scholarly work examines the intractability of civil wars, exploring how competitive intervention — the concurrent, yet rival provision of military support by third-party states to government and rebel forces — fuels the dynamics and duration of internal conflicts. Drawing on statistical analysis, fieldwork, and declassified intelligence reports, this work challenges traditional views of proxy wars and offers new insights into the strategic logics of foreign interventions, the behaviour of armed groups, and the geopolitical dimensions of civil wars.
